Welcome to the Tehrani Barbie blog!
Through this platform, I want to share my personal journey and experiences as a young Hungarian woman navigating life in Tehran.
Join me as I dive into the vibrant culture, rich history, and the unique rhythm of everyday life in Iran. From the subtleties of social dynamics to the latest trends in fashion and the challenges I face along the way, I’ll give you an insider’s view. Come along on this exciting adventure as I bridge the gap between the world I come from and the one that has become my second home.
Who am I?
My name is Barbara Ujvári. I was born in Budapest and grew up in Pilisvörösvár, influenced by my Swabian heritage. I began my university studies at Pázmány Péter Catholic University, where I earned a degree in International Relations. Later, I pursued a master’s degree in Iranian Studies at the University of Tehran. My academic background has equipped me with fluency in three languages: English, German, and Persian.
After completing my studies, I decided to stay in Tehran and follow in my family’s footsteps by entering the business world. Today, I run my own company in the petrochemical industry, which means I spend a significant amount of my time in Iran, though recent years have also seen me traveling frequently across the Middle East and Eurasia.
Beyond my professional life, I have a passion for lifelong learning and sports. I’ve been riding horses for over 20 years, and I spent six of those years as part of the Hungarian show-jumping team, winning the national championship twice. Although horseback riding has taken a back seat, I’ve embraced other activities like martial arts, tennis, and hiking as my ways to stay active.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring historical places, trying out new restaurants, and attending cultural events.
